I've come across this document www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/strengthening-families.pdfwhich details proposed changes to Child Maintenance from the Department of Work and Pensions. I read down to page 17, point 4c, which suggests: "Rebalancing the system further with the introduction of application charges to ensure that in all circumstances, applicants consider their maintenance choices fully by paying a proportion of the cost of their application."Consider that for a moment. The Coalition want to charge people to apply for benefits. Our poorest people will have to pay just to be allowed to ask for help.Fortunately these proposals are still part of a public consultation, the details of which follow. www.dwp.gov.uk/consultations/2011/strengthening-families.shtmlIf you have any strong responses to this then I suggest you spread the word and start taking advantage of what's left of our democracy. We have until April 7th.
